Advice, support and treatment for young people experiencing

changes in their mood, thinking, or normal routine

Introduction

Disturbances in thoughts, feelings, and how you see the world can be confusing and distressing. You might experience unusual perceptual sensations, be preoccupied with new ideas, withdraw from friends and family, or have difficulties coping with day-to-day activities.

These changes can occur for a number of reasons. They may be related to drug or alcohol use, or medical illness, or adjusting to a new environment. These changes could also be early symptoms of a mental health problem.

Friends and family may try to help but can get frustrated through not understanding what you are experiencing. You may have also developed your own ways of coping with these problems.

Sometimes people need a bit of additional help. At OASIS, we can provide information and practical support.
